Industrial steel fabrication involves the shape and cutting of steel metal as defined by a variety of welding processes. The first step in industrial steel fabrication involves raw materials transportation to a plant. The fabrication process can be done in several types of plants including rolling mills or metal shops. Steel rolling mills actually form the steel, and a metal shop cuts it up for sale to any customer that needs that particular piece of steel. In addition, some fabrication plants have their own foundries for welding.

The next phases in industrial steel fabrication include steel storage, material preparation, steel shaping, steel cutting and basic inspection. Steel storage involves any process needed to get the raw material into an appropriate condition for use. The material preparation phase involves taking the raw material and shaping it. This process includes getting the necessary dimensions, heating, casting and cooling to the correct state for use in the fabrication process.

Once the steel is ready to be shaped, it is then cut. This is a very important step in fabrication because it can alter how fast or how smoothly a product can go into production. In some cases, the pieces get cut by hand using shears or plasma cutters, while in other cases, robots actually do the work. Once the steel is cut, it will be used immediately or saved for later. If it is used immediately, it can then be inspected and then put into production depending on customer orders and needs.

The inspection process can involve several further steps, depending on what the product is supposed to look like after being formed. For example, if the product is supposed to be a certain colour, it will be inspected for the right shade of colour. In addition, if the piece is supposed to be a certain length or width, it will get inspected for accuracy.

After all of the inspection processes are done, the piece will then go to either a shipping facility or directly into production in some cases. The end result of industrial steel fabrication is the finished product getting shipped to its customer.
